Cody Football Beats Riverton in First Game of the Year

A Cody High School Football player is Tackled by Riverton players

In their season opener on Friday night, the Cody High school varsity football team came out strong, winning 38-0 against Riverton.

The returning state champions, the Broncs, completely shut out the Riverton Wolverines, scoring their first touchdown midway through the first quarter. From there the Broncs never let up the pressure, scoring 25 points before halftime.

Junior Charlie Beaudrie scored twice, once in the first quarter and once in the third quarter.

Coach McFadden is impressed with the seniors this season, who’ve so far showcased not only their talents and what they’ve learned over the years, but strong leadership and confidence. According to him, they’ve been very helpful during practice, stepping up into leadership roles and sharing their knowledge with younger teammates.

In terms of where the team is headed for the season, McFadden explained, “We try not to look too far away from the next game or even the next practice.” McFadden believes this allows the team to focus on improvements and specific skills that the individual players needs.

Their biggest opponent this season is themselves, the players need to be sure they bring their best to every game and practice in order to possibly repeat as state champions.

On Friday, the Broncs will go head-to-head with the Worland Warriors at 7:00 p.m at Spike Vannoy Field in Cody.
