According to the New York Times, people are more productive when they are relaxed. With the weather changing, your life may feel hectic. If you are out of sorts or on edge, but work must be done, take a moment to regroup and relieve some stress.

 

Breathe Deeply

What to Do:

Breathe in for five counts and hold it for another five, then, slowly breath out all the air in your lungs. Continue breathing like this until you feel relaxed.

Deep Breathing slows the heart rate and lowers blood pressure. This combats the negative physical symptoms and automatic negative thoughts of the negative stress cycle and promote relaxation, improved moods, and positive behavioral responses to stress.

 

Try Guided Imagery

What to Do:

Take a few minutes to close your eyes and envision a calming place like a forest or a beech. See the gulls run around the surf, and smell the salty mist. Walk in the sand and feel it between your toes. Listen to the waves crash down the beech. What do you taste? Is it the sea mist or the shaved ice you bought from the little stand a few yards away?

What to Do:
